Update on the 2020 Season
May 18, 2020
Mercer Island Little League Families,
We hope that this letter finds you safe and healthy. Our Little League Board has been closely monitoring the situation and discussing options to
salvage some level of practice and/or competition for 2020. While youth sports continue to be
on hold, there is a possibility that we are allowed to get back out on the field before the official
close of the Little League season on Labor Day. We aren’t in a position to judge the likelihood of
that possibility, but we’ve been contemplating what we’d do if presented the chance. This letter includes updates on a number of associated topics:
Survey Results:
Results from a recent survey of MILL families to gauge interest in a summer season.
Social Distancing Plan:
Preliminary thoughts on how we might modify competition to mitigate viral transmission.
Season Resumption Timelines:
The governor’s Safe Start Washington plan and how it relates to the Little League season.
2020 Fees and Refunds:
Update on how we intend to handle 2020 fees, credits, and requests for refund.
Updates from District 9, Washington State, and Little League International:
What we are hearing from “up the chain”.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions not addressed here. We
hope to see you on the field this summer, but in the meantime, stay home, stay safe, and stay
sane.
